Project Description: Client is global lumber, pulp and paper manufacture. Client sought assistance to redesign its Order Fulfillment function as part of it’s new ERP and automation technology implementation. The intent of the project was to define the structure, capabilities, interactions and role profiles needed to create a high-functioning Order Fulfillment team in order to enable benefits by improved demand, production and inventory planning

Project Approach

The high level approach consisted of three main work streams


Engage

  • Conduct 6 leadership interviews
  • Draft organizational design principles

Analyze

  • Conduct work activity analysis for current and future state process designs
  • Analyze current org structure and job descriptions, determine span of controls and capability gaps
  • Compare current state with leading practice

Design

  • Develop future structure and develop other design options
  • Develop preferred org structure, roles and high level sizing model
  • Develop role profiles and day-in-the-life use cases

  • Designed new organization structure based on agreed design principles. The structure shows supply chain roles and level (L4 to L7) with a profile for each role including responsibilities, interaction and decision making.
