Project Description: Client was one of the largest international Marine Port in North America. Client sought assistance to improve its supply chain visibility and optimize goods movement between it’s network of port operators, rail carriers, shippers and marine terminals to address capacity constraint of the entire network. The objective of the project was to design and develop Supply Chain dashboard that collaboratively uses the client’s business partners data to update Key Performance Metrics (KPI) in near real- time basis. This dashboard would enable robust decision makings and optimize physical infrastructure investments for the network
Project Approach
The high level approach consisted of two main work streams
Conduct Current State Assessment
- Data Profiling: Profile the identified data sources examining the data available from existing sources ; Identify data quality; Define business rules to address data quality issues
- Data Modeling: Design high level architecture solution
- Environment Set up & Solution Build: Set up technological platform; Build physical target data model; Build data population
- Governance Procedures: Define required data governance procedures, controls, and audit activities
- Testing: Plan and execute test scenarios to validate data quality issues, data and calculation accuracy; Fix/resolve identified issues
Supply Chain Performance Metrics
- Current State Analysis: Conduct workshops with key business stakeholders to understand current performance metrics and reporting capabilities
- Identify and Develop KPI: Conduct workshops to down select the list of KPIs important for all different organization involved to be shared via the dashboard; Validate required data sources for quality and completeness
- Finalize Performance Metrics and Conceptual Framework: Review proposed KPIS; Finalize KPI including targets, ownership and accountability, calculations and data sources
